Gone Tomorrow by Lee Child is a Jack Reacher novel with the typical suspense, action and humor expected from Child’s infamous hero. Quite possibly the best Jack Reacher novel to date, Gone Tomorrow, combines interesting characters, humorous quotes and action sequences that would make Jason Bourne fans think twice about their favorite fictional action hero.
Taking place in New York City, Gone Tomorrow, Jack Reacher becomes unwittingly involved with a suicide on the subway. While at first glance, it seems only to be an odd and sad event, Reacher quickly realizes that there is much more to the situation than first met the eye. As he digs deeper, becoming acquainted with the deceased woman’s family, foreign friends and the local police, it becomes apparent that this woman’s suicide is related to both American government cover ups that are in competition with the desires of terrorists who will manipulate, torture and kill to achieve their goals.
Gone Tomorrow is a perfect escapist novel for anyone looking for an anti-hero with a simple view of morality and nothing to lose.
