The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest by Stieg Larsson is the final installment of the Lisbeth Salander trilogy. Anyone who has read the first two installments of the Millenium Trilogy will be waiting on the edge of their seat to know what happens next, with good reason.

While The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest may not be quite as suspenseful as the previous two books, Larsson does an incredible job of tying up loose ends and bringing the saga to a close. That is not to say that this book is boring or dull in any way — as usual, there are twists, turns and a conniving Lisbeth to keep the action moving along and making it quite impossible for the reader to put the book down.

Picking up right where The Girl Who Played with Fire left off, with Lisbeth in the hospital recovering from her injuries, the story moves along at a good clip, bringing in a few new characters, expanding on characters that may have previously had smaller roles in the story line and continuing to give the reader plenty of action for their now well known characters, like the lady magnet, Mikael Blomkvist and his even keeled, editor and part-time lover, Erica. As the story winds to a close, Larsson takes the reader through the actual trial for the nefarious characters caught in the previous novel and the perils involved in dealing with government agencies, regardless of your innocence. Lisbeth continues her feminist, anti-establishment crusade to defend herself and those involved with plenty of intrigue and action.

Also read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire, the first two installments of the Millennium Series.
